Well, to be fair, I am not a doctor, but I was a medic for a few years, and...let's just say it's rather confusing, but very well-done. Almost would have to be a multiple crush/puncture injury that had been untreated for some time, resulting in large-scale infection and necrosis of tissue (the dark/black areas).

I didn't use a reference at all so it's bound to confuse anyone with knowledge of real wounds. It started out as looking like it was decaying flesh but then turned into an infection of some sort... It was mostly just to freak the bejesus out of my family though XD
